SignSense upgrade feasibility study with Horizon 2020 EU SME Instruments

Modern world is full of inventions, and some inventions are so great that can boost up things that have been just dreamed of in the past. Recent advancements in machine vision hardware and technology allow not only to enhance existing ways of working, but to re-invent methods of technology, such as non-contact metrology. In collaboration and support of European Union’s Horizon 2020’s SME Instrument programme we are happy to announce that Sampo Software’s is approaching a new edge of measurement technology for heavy machine industry. Building up on the basement of SignSense technology, created 3 years ago, thanks to support of Finnish TEKES agency, we made another step in advancing the sum of technologies, designing a practical solution to respond the need of machine industry metrology and quality assurance. Several months of advanced research and testing work completed, dedicated to the design of a portable non-contact scanning multi-camera system that is capable of capturing and measuring 3D objects of industrial scale with the manufacturing tolerances precision. Such system is valuable for use in the manufacturing, logistics and quality control of heavy machine industry parts, where currently very little opportunity is available and mostly mechanical tools are used coupled with human labor. The framework of EU SME Instrument program in scope of Stage 1 was crucial to deliver solid research and build up upgrade of SignSense enabling further design work for complete solution. We thank the EU’s Horizon 2020 SME Instrument and hope for continuing to further stages of creating a “sum of technologies” invention for industry.
